The Process

1. We will complete two cooperative learning structures, Line-Ups and Team Interview, to get to know each other. (Cooperative Learning Structures for Teambuilding by Laurie, Miguel and Spencer Kagan, pages 48 and 134).

2. In your group of four, decide which concept you would like to learn more about. The three choices are WebQuest, inquiry-based learning and cooperative learning. You will be using a graphic organizer to keep your information organized. Your teacher will be giving you a copy of the graphic organizer. Once you have your graphic organizer, write the essential question on the top line. The essential questions are found bolded below. Use the resources below your group's selected question. You will have 15 minutes to work with your group.

  • How do WebQuest's help students learn?

  • How does inquiry- based learning help students learn?

An Introduction to Inquiry-Based Learning

  • Why is Cooperative Learning important to a child's learning?

4. After you have completed your research be sure all members of you group can answer you essential question based on your research. We will use another Kagan cooperative learning structure, Numbered Heads Together, to present the information.

5. While each group is presenting their information, be thinking about how these three components work together. We will discuss after everyone has presented.
