Inv. 2 – Session 1 & 2: Multiplication and Division Strategies

·        Activity:  The Ringle, an imaginary coin (pgs. 42-44) (SS10-12)

o   during this activity, students will begin to see how to deal with the “leftovers” of a division problem and how to use multiple towers/multiplication to find the answer to division problems without the use of standard algorithms

·        HW: TM93(The New Coin) and SS11 (Box of Markers)

Inv. 2 – Session 4 What Should We do with the Extras?

Activity:  Division Situations

·        Students will begin to look at the kind of situations that result in the need to divide.

·        After looking at all sorts of problems, students will write division situations and illustrate them using PowerPoint

·        HW: TM96 (Dividing 500 by 16) and SS15 (Division Situations) will be due Tuesday and some time in class will be given

·        Use the website to complete the Digestion poster – on pgs. 74 and 75, fill in the flaps/boxes with the parts of the system that the bite of apple will travel through.  On the inside of the flaps, write what is happening to the bite of apple through each of these parts.

·        Complete the Digestive System Quiz independently.  Print your results and be sure to put your name on and turn it in.
